Husband keeps telling me I need more friends. I have ‘work-friends’ (but I don’t really hang out with any of them on my days off), and I have ‘family-friends’ (people I love hanging out with, but he says they don’t count because they’re family). But now I’m getting ‘blog-friends’, ones that I’d love to hang out with but don’t live anywhere near me. I can’t win.
I signed up to be apart of the 2012 New Year Blogging Party/gift exchange earlier in January and was paired up with Rachel at Wokabout. (Rachel is Australian and unfortunately, we didn’t have a lot of time to mail gifts internationally so my gift is still somewhere between here and there.)
Of course, I had to tell my husband about it.
M: “What’d you do today?”
A: “Laundry, grocery shopping, oh and I made a new friend!”
M: “Cool! Who is it?”
A: “Her name’s Rachel. She lives in Australia. We’ve been e-mailing back and forth and I’m going to mail her a gift next week. It’s all part of a blog party.” (I can’t use words like “link-up” because he doesn’t know what that means yet. We’re getting there.).
M: “…is she cute? It makes a difference to the story.”
A: “She’s super cute.”
You know what’s also cute? Her little family: her husband Jason (American) and her toddler-son Xavier (dual-citizen: how cool is that?). Her blog is about her adventures with her family.
She talks about how to give gifts to children, the struggles and joys of having a multi-cultural family, how to throw a very messy (aka ‘creative’) birthday party (her son’s 1st birthday), and she writes the sweetest letters to her boy. Check out her blog and I’ll post again when her package arrives!
