Today was my last day shift.
so I brought donuts, as a little ‘thank you’ to my preceptor.
later, my [confused] 67 year old patient begged me for a kiss.
or to sit on his lap.
I told him, since he just had his chest cut open for heart surgery, that’s the last thing he’d want.
he promptly told me that he didn’t have surgery down there, so it was ok.
starting next week I’ll be a night owl.
feel free to text me in all wee hours of the night, there’s an excellent chance I’ll be awake.
ps. I write articles on a weekly basis for LA Family online magazine. CLICK HERE to read the latest one (about my never-ending search for a hobby).
pahahaha, please tell me you’re joking about the patient!
Actually… don’t – it makes for a funny story.
haha, one of the more polite propositions from a patient i’ve ever heard. i must say, i definitely enjoy working in women’s health. the only boys i come into contact with now tend to weigh less than 10 pounds and are total gentlemen.
good luck on the night shift! i never acclimated and it was definitely not for me but i know a ton of nurses who totally prefer it to days.
Haha, gotta love some of the patients!
Good luck on nights, I never could stay awake so I think you are a hero for doing nights!
Ha Ha- Poor fella. My grandpa had alzheimers and he could be hillarious from time to time! PS..I have no clue how to spell alzheimers LOL!
Haha, awesome patient!
I am sorry that you have to work the night shift! I am sure that’s pretty exhausting!
Yay for night shift!! I joke. Booooo.
I worked night shift for just over a year as a CNA in a nursing home. It’s really hard. I hope that you are able to settle into a good routine, I always went straight to bed after work, and having a set sleep schedule really helps!
LOL this is great, did you end up doing either? 😉
Love your blog! Stop by and say hi sometime!
