0600– Mo showered and got ready while Anna made his lunch. Peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwiches, a banana, veggies, Cheetos, oatmeal raisin granola bar (all purchased at a nearby Safeway the night before. Anna carried the heaviest backpack of her life on a bike when they bought 2 gallons of water to take back to the hotel).
0645– Breakfast in our hotel. Oatmeal for him. Parfait for her.
0715– Mo hopped on his trusty folding bike and made his way to the United Bicycle Institute in a bit of a light rain.
0800– Anna finished breakfast and returned to the room and spent the rest of the day watching a little TV, taking a little nap, going on a little train ride to downtown, doing a little shopping, finding a little Ben & Jerry’s, stopping for a little treat, then returning back to the hotel, their little home away from home, at 1710 (mo has decided he doesn’t like living in a hotel; Anna, on the other hand, doesn’t mind it. It kind of reminds her of home, with all the trains passing by).
1730– Mo is back from his first day! He spends 15 minutes attempting to connect to the sketchy Internet, finally does, and starts some homework while playing some cool jazz in the background.
1830– Anna goes out and acquires some edibles from the Wendy’s down the street.
1900– Dinner and discussion.
Mo tells Anna about his day: about the 15 or so people in his class (only 2 girls!), about the course outline, about the guy in class obsessed with electric bikes, about the cool parts/tools/school gear he can order for cheap, about building hubs (tomorrow they lace wheels!), and about getting lost on the way home because his iPhone is wrongly convinced that he’s on the other side of the river.
1930– Back to studying.
2000– Anna goes to the gym (to be out of Mo’s way. and because exercise is good). The treadmill is the only machine that works. The stairclimber and stationary bike are broken and won’t turn on. There are a couple weight stations that DO function and that helps make up for it.
2100-Anna returns from the hotel gym to find Mo fast asleep on the bed. Sideways. It’s a queen and Mo has gotten used to the nice California king they have at home. She showers, wakes him up, Mo brushes his teeth and goes back to bed.
2230– Anna is awake, typing this, but will fall asleep soon.

Ps. When’s the last time you’ve heard someone use the term “no sweat?” The lady at the desk used it and it make me feel like I was back in the 90s.
