They last day of Nurses Week!
It’s kind of strange that Monday would be the last day of a week, but it is what it is. I suppose it’s because they always try and have the last day fall on Florence’s birthday.
Dankso is giving away a pair of shoes to one of my readers for Nurses Week! They asked me to select a pair to review and I chose their Sam shoes. I think whoever wins this giveaway is really going to like them. I know, because I’ve basically been wearing them non-stop the last couple weeks.
They’ve been worn shopping, to work meetings, date night…I love how versatile they are. Like all Dansko’s, they have the same foot support and comfort you’d find in their basic clogs. The tan color has really grown on me but they also come in black and brown. I haven’t had any ankle-rolling situations like some people do with narrow Danskos, these have a nice wide support.
Another plus: these shoes will be perfect to bike in!
To enter into the giveaway, tell me how you celebrated Nurses Week.
And to be fair, I should tell you how I celebrated mine. Our hospital gave out cafeteria gift cards for a free meal, they also gave out a treat card (you could get a cookie or brownie or a piece of fruit), one of our PAs bought the nurses pizza one day, there was donuts from a long term care facility, ice cream and cake from the hospital… I’ve been a little spoiled this week! My favorite was probably the ugly scrub day (pictures here). Nothing like looking hideous to help you bond with your co-workers! Plus, I lucked out and cared for a sedated/ventilated patient who was asleep all day and couldn’t see the awful scrubs.

Thanks to Dansko for my grand finale of Nurses Week! You all have until Friday to enter, winner will be chosen Saturday! The plan is to give away either the same pair of shoes I chose, but they are flexible and can change them out to something else, ESPECIALLY if a murse wins. π
We planned “theme” potluck days. Monday was Tacos, Tuesday – finger foods, Wednesday – Italian, Thursday – desserts & Friday – picnic food. The hospital also brought us coffee and cookies on Tuesday. Nurses Week always equals food overload!
I have thoroughly enjoyed your blogs over the past week. My hospital provided us with insulated cups and donuts, and a cook out. Our oncologist provided the unit with yummy cookies too.
I don’t start nursing school until the Fall but I did send a shout out to all my nurse friends and family.
With lots of sweets at work and sappy nostalgic Facebook posts
Hi Anna! I celebrated Nurse’s Week by 1) being excited about getting into nursing school and 2) thanking the nurses in my life!
We got pizza and ice cream as well and new lunch bags!
We got fancy new badge holders. Yay!
I personally gave all my friends a hug and told them Happy Nurses Day and the 6th and posted a nice poster on FB. Our PNCC sent us card with a free cookie coupon in it and my manager put out cookies or cheese cake for each shift.
At work senior leadership did little things through the week for the nursing staff, and of course I think we’ve all been posting little pictures and videos on Facebook wishing everyone a happy nurses week.
P.S. I love these shoes!!!
We got tickets to a baseball game!
I must admit I’ve never heard of Nurses Week before. Thank you for the giveaway!

I wasn’t on the unit during the vast majority of nurses week, and thus didn’t celebrate it (I was doing homework and was in class instead). But does applying for my first nursing job count for anything? LOL
The hospital gave us a small gift & a bag of mixed popcorn from a local candy shop. One of our MD’s bought the entire hospital pizza, a local ambulance service dropped off Panera desserts & treat bags for all of the nurses & we had a pot luck. It was a week of pigging out. I think I gained 10 lbs!
Yes, I thanked some of my nurse friends on Facebook.

I celebrated by giving each of my nurses a special little goodie bag. I want them to know that they are loved! Now it is national nursing home week!
Well… there’s a huge tension between the RNs and the hospital (the admins and actually County to be exact) regarding our patient safety so pretty much we boycotted the Hospital’s Breakfast that they provided (and the BBQ luncheon was cancelled d/t the boycott). On top of that, HFAP aka Surveyors were in house the whole week. hahahaha… talk about major tension. I heard from a nurse that went down to see the breakfast food, he said it was old cafeteria food. Really? That’s how you appreciate us Nurses? #smh
But luckily our head ER doctor treated us with pizza on Monday and our head Charge RN gave us some goodies bags out of her own budget to say thanks to us. So sweet of them.
And i love them danskos. aaaaaahhh i want!
Each day our unit did something different. We had waffles one morning, sundaes another day, sub sandwiches, tacos, pizza, and muffins all on different days with plenty for both shifts. Our unit hospitality committee gave out little treats everyday- “happy pills” , boxes of candy, personalized cups, pens, etc. The hospital also had events everyday (food truck rodeo, photo booth, etc) and gave every nurse a cooler bag.
It was a lot of fun and really morale boosting! :).
I sent cards to my mother and sister (both nurses – I’m not).
I told my friends about the giveaways.
I worked, with to thanks or anything from management. Perfect right!?
At my hospital we had lots and lots of treats!
Yes my neighbor and best friend is a nurse and she is amazing.
Yes! I thank a nurse every time we visit my mister’s grandmother.
I am a LVN and take care of an elderly lady at her home. Her family bought me flowers!

I thanked my grandmother with many hugs

I sent a fruit basket to my doctor’s office. His entire staff & the nurses are to be commended for all they do for me (I’m not an easy patient).
I celebrated Nurse’s Week by cleaning most of the poop off of people prior to transport so the nurses would only have to clean a little bit of poop.
I thanked a nurse that I know on FB
I got caught up on Call the Midwife for nurses week. I am actually proud to be an RN, but I’m taking a few years off while my children are small :).
I thanked 3 of my clients who are nurses π

Did I miss the drawing for this? There’s no winner posted either here or on the blog entry with the other winners from other contests last week.
