I don’t do recipe posts very often. But if you follow me on instagram (@anna_the_nurse), you know I love to spend time in the kitchen. So I joined Amy and Paige in their #DoseofCharm Scavenger hunt and put together a holiday-themed dessert post for you all!
The scavenger hunt ends today, so don’t forget to enter!
I am a proud born and raised Idahoan.
Potatoes are our thing.
-ice cream (vanilla is traditional, but use whatever you like!)
Don your gloves.
Scoop ice cream and shape into potato-shaped pieces with your hands. It’ll get softer the longer your handle it, so freeze for 15 minutes or until it’s hard again.
Coat ice cream in cocoa/powdered sugar mix then refreeze again. These can be made ahead of time, but I would do it the same day at least to avoid any extra freezer burn taste. You know what I’m talking about.
When you’re ready to serve them, pull out of the freezer and garnish with whipped topping and chopped pistachios, or get creative and add other ice cream toppings!
I realize this looks like something you’d make for a different holiday… like St. Patricks Day, or April Fool’s. But this dessert is trans-seasonal. To make it as Christmasy as possible, use a seasonal ice cream, like Dryer’s Peppermint Wonderland (available September through December)!
ps. Dryer’s is not sponsoring this post, in case you were wondering. I was just really excited to try their ice cream.
